AMERICAN LEGION POSTS American Legion Post 663
Post 663 was formed in 1946, and first met at the Newbury Town Hall. The Post's building, located at 14951 Auburn Road, Newbury, was sold to the Grace Evangelical Bible Church. The church took it over during the summer of 1998
The Post purchased the land in 1953 for $500, and spent between $5,000 and $7,000 on building construction.
Currently, Post members are seeking land owned by the township north of the town hall to construct another building. Plans drawn up illustrate a 1,200 square foot one-floor building with an assembly hall, storage area, restrooms, kitchen, and office with an entrance on the south side. The project would be funded by the Post.
Post members speculate that the building would eventually be turned over to the township due to declining membership.
