STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

To further regional cooperation and improvement within or related to the geographic area known as the Berkshire Community.

To cooperate with governmental bodies and public and private organizations with respect to issues of common interest and concern.

And to engage in the collection and dissemination of information pertinent to issues of common interest and concern.

Issues of current common interest and concern include:

  • Population growth of 1-1/2% per annum
  • Maintaining and improving a diversified tax base
  • Manage land resource to minimize waste
  • Maintenance of excellent educational and safety facilities
  • Prepare to meet future health requirements
  • Preservation of resource for food and fibre production
