834-4656, 285-2222, or 564-7131, extension 5260The Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by Ohio State University Extension to work in gardening education. They receive an initial 50 hours of classroom instruction in basic botany; pest control; propagation; plant pathology; growing of vegetables, fruit, ornamentals and house plants; and turf.
Instructors are extension agents, state extension specialists, and experienced individuals from the horticulture industry.
Volunteer activities include conducting plant clinics, answering gardening and lawn questions, speaking to garden clubs, and manning the Master Gardener booth at the Great Geauga County Fair.
