7:00 - 9:00 p.m.The National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children, Inc (POMC) is a national self-help organization dedicated solely to the aftermath and prevention of murder.
POMC was founded by Charlott and Bob Hullinger in Cincinnati after their daughter Lisa was murdered. Father Ken Czillinger directed the Hullingers to others whose children had been murdered. The organization now has over 100 chapters and 350 contact persons throughout the US and abroad.
Main objectives:
- To support the persons who survive the violent death of someone close as they seek to recover
- To provide contact with similarly bereaved persons and establish self-help groups that meet regularly.
- To provide information abut the grieving process and the criminal justice system as they pertain to survivors of a homicide victim
- To communicate with professional in the helping fields about the problems faced by those surviving a homicide victim
- To increase society's awareness of these problems
The Lake-Geauga Chapter was formed after the murder of Rick Whitcomb. Meetings are for friends and family of someone who has lost their life to homicide, including drunk driving deaths. You are welcome to attend, and you may choose to share or remain silent, but please be assured that you are among those who understand and care. This is a safe, non-judgmental place.
