If there is a power outage, CEI has seven suggestions for the customer:
1. Check on your neighbors
2. Call CEI
3. Listen to newscasts. It is always a good idea to keep a battery powered radio and flashlights in case of power outages
4. Unplug major appliances. This is a safety precaution to protect your appliances from damage caused by power surges.
5. Do not open refrigerators or freezers unless absolutely necessary. Letting the cold air out will increase your chances of food spoilage
6. If you cannot reach CEI in an emergency, notify your local fire or police department.
7. DO NOT TOUCH OR GO NEAR DOWNED LINES - EVEN THOUGH YOU THINK THEY ARE NOT LIVE WIRES!
