GOVERNMENT
Trustee meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. at the town hall. All board minutes are available at http://www.geaugalink.com/huntsburg.

All township meetings are opened to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Several bids were received for the cement stabilization and hard surfacing of Windmill Point Road at the April 15 meeting. The Trustees held a special meeting on April 23 at Noon after receiving the recommendations from the Engineer's office. The board accepted the lowest and best bidder, The Shelly Co for $173,281.50.

Bids for dust control will be opened at the May 6 meeting.

HUNTSBURG PUMPKIN FESTIVAL
The Pumpkin Festival Committee wishes to thank the 84 friends that attended our pancake & waffle breakfast. The number of attendees was rather disappointing but we all had a great time and the food was great. Extra thanks to our chef Eric Zimmerli for cooking the delicious waffles. He will be back for the Pumpkin Festival.

HUNTSBURG GRANGE
Enjoy your summer with Bandstand Concerts sponsored by Huntsburg Grange.

  • June 7 - Classic songs by Geauga Renaissance, a vocal group who met at the Geauga Senior Center;
  • June 21 - Soft Tones, mix of classic country and oldies;
  • July 5 - celebrate Independence Day with The Boys are Back.
  • July 19 - Ft. Huntsburg Band, country music and a church bake sale. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music.

The Grange will help celebrate Huntsburg's bicentennial on Saturday, August 16, by serving food at the Bear's Den Cafe in the town hall.

RECYCLING
Please do not leave unwanted items that are not recyclable at the park recycling site. Lately we have found items that are not acceptable. DO NOT LEAVE CARDBOARD. We are not a cardboard recycling facility. Please read the posted sign for items that are accepted. If we continue to find unacceptable items we will risk losing our grant.

Please remember to recycle newspapers, office paper and magazines we now receive payments based on tonnage recycled.

The Huntsburg Spring Clean Up will be held on Saturday May 3, 2008 starting at 7:00 and will close at 2:00 pm. No items are to be left after that time. NO EXCEPTIONS! Fees will apply.

HUNTSBURG TOWNSHIP BICENTENNIAL
On May 3rd the Bicentennial Committee will participate in the 2008 Annual Spring Drive-it-Yourself Tour, and set up a display at the Huntsburg Town Hall offering a sneak preview of things to come in August. On August 15, 16, and 17, 2008 present day residents of Huntsburg Township will mark the bicentennial of that first settlement with a three-day celebration that will include live music and entertainment, historical and pictorial displays, style shows, a festival dinner by the Congregational Church, car show, parade, golf invitational, softball games, old fashion fun and games, queen contest, Amish bake sale, guided tour of historical buildings and their history, and a unique postal cancellation.

The committee is also selling a pack of 10 commemorative postcards for $5.00. The postcards are pictures of Huntsburg High School, Huntsburg Congregational Church, Huntsburg Baptist Church, Huntsburg Town Hall, Huntsburg Post Office, the Bandstand, Hershey Farm School, Jerry Rose and his record Giant Pumpkin & Squash, the Bicentennial Logo, the Town Hall Mural and Postcards can be purchased from Nancy Saunders 440-636-5197 or Pauline Burnnett at 440-479-2485. The postcards will be sold at the Huntsburg Grange activities. Proceeds from the sale of postcards will go toward the festivities planned for the 200th Birthday Celebration.
