April 28, 2008 GOVERNMENT All township meetings are opened to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. Contact us at 636-5486 for more information. Our next meeting will be May 6, 2008. Several bids were received for the cement stabilization and hard surfacing of Windmill Point Road at the April 15 meeting. The Trustees held a special meeting on April 23 at Noon after receiving the recommendations from the Engineer's office. The board accepted the lowest and best bidder, The Shelly Co for $173,281.50. Bids for dust control will be opened at the May 6 meeting. HUNTSBURG PUMPKIN FESTIVAL HUNTSBURG GRANGE
The Grange will help celebrate Huntsburg's bicentennial on Saturday, August 16, by serving food at the Bear's Den Cafe in the town hall. RECYCLING Please remember to recycle newspapers, office paper and magazines we now receive payments based on tonnage recycled. The Huntsburg Spring Clean Up will be held on Saturday May 3, 2008 starting at 7:00 and will close at 2:00 pm. No items are to be left after that time. NO EXCEPTIONS! Fees will apply. HUNTSBURG TOWNSHIP BICENTENNIAL On August 15, 16, and 17, 2008 present day residents of Huntsburg Township will mark the bicentennial of that first settlement with a three-day celebration that will include live music and entertainment, historical and pictorial displays, style shows, a festival dinner by the Congregational Church, car show, parade, golf invitational, softball games, old fashion fun and games, queen contest, Amish bake sale, guided tour of historical buildings and their history, and a unique postal cancellation. Friday night an ice cream social is scheduled beginning at 6:30 pm. History will come alive on Saturday starting at 10:00 am. The postcards are pictures of Huntsburg High School, Huntsburg Congregational Church, Huntsburg Baptist Church, Huntsburg Town Hall, Huntsburg Post Office, the Bandstand, Hershey Farm School, Jerry Rose and his record Giant Pumpkin & Squash, the Bicentennial Logo, the Town Hall Mural and Postcards can be purchased from Nancy Saunders 440-636-5197 or Pauline Burnnett at 440-479-2485. The postcards will be sold at the Huntsburg Grange activities. Proceeds from the sale of postcards will go toward the festivities planned for the 200th Birthday Celebration.
