The Facilitator and Panorama NewslettersThese publications are designed to make the community aware of available services, programs, resources and information on state and national news in mental health. They are each published three times a year. Please call to be placed on our mailing list.
LifeScape Players
This group of volunteers perform brief skits on mental health topics including drug and alcohol abuse, adoption, stress, senior issues and parenting. These presentations bring about discussion of the various issues with the audience. There is no cost to Geauga groups. Call to inquire about volunteering with the drama troupe or to schedule a performance.
MHA's Library Collection
Geauga County libraries and the Burton Public Library shelve hundreds of books and video and audiocassettes that have been made available to the libraries on mental health issues. The Mental Health Association's Library Collection is updated annually. Booklets listing the 2000-2001 items are available at all libraries or by calling 440-285-3945 for a copy.
ParenTalk Newsletter
This newsletter is mailed quarterly to all Geauga County first-time parents for the first five years of their child's life. Each issue is geared to the age and developmental stage of the child. Parentalk addresses nutrition and changing family needs. Call now to register.
Teddy Bear Patrol
Teddy bears are distributed by M.H.A. volunteers to Geauga police departments, the Sheriff's Department, the Geauga Park District, fire department EMTs, and Victim Advocates. The teddy bears are given to children who are in trauma from accidents, domestic violence disputes, injuries, fires, being lost, or family disasters. If you would like to help with the Teddy Bear Patrol and/or make a donation, please call our office.
Very Important Kid Program
The VIK preschool program is offered free-of-charge to area daycare and preschool sites. Its purpose is to develop positive self-esteem and help children express their feelings. There are currently 48 childcare facilities using the program. VIK is also availabler for purchase to out-of-county schools. Please call M.H.A. for more information.
