Free Smoke Detectors
75% of deaths in fires are caused by smoke. Most fatal fires take place when people are asleep at night. You can have a free smoke detector installed in your home courtesy of the Red Cross. Just call 285-4911 or (800) 788-8223 to set up an appointment.Blood Pressure Screenings
Blood pressure screenings are offered the third Wednesday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Chardon office.Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to help with clerical tasks (answering the phone, registering students in classes, providing American Red Cross information to the public as needed). This would be ideal for homemakers or retirees looking for a few hours a week to help their community. You can pick your hours and how often you can help us.
BloodmobilesWalk-in donors are always welcome
Any person 17 years of age or older, in general good health, and weighing at least 105 pounds is eligible to donate blood every 56 days.

The Geauga Service Area of the American Red Cross is offering the following classes. All classes are held at the office unless noted.
STANDARD FIRST AID
This OSHA-recognized course teaches people Adult CPR and other lifesaving techniques for bleeding, shock, injuries and medical emergencies. May be used to meet the Ohio Day Care Licensing Rules for in-service training.INFANT & CHILD CPR
Teaches people how to use the EMS system (9ll); recognize the signals of breathing or heart emergencies in infants and children up to eight years of age; give first aid for choking and breathing emergencies; and give CPR to an infant or child whose heart has stopped. May be used to meet the Ohio Day Care Licensing Rules for in-service training 5101:2-12-30. Certificate valid for one year.March 20 & 27 (must attend both) 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
PET FIRST AID
Pet First Aid addresses the immediate and temporary care given to an injured animal until it can be taken to a professional veterinarian for more definite medical care and attention. The class aims to protect both pet owners and their pets from further harm, injury, or suffering during emergencies by teaching prompt, effective actions and care that will safeguard the life of an injured pet. Students will learn basic first aid techniques for cats and dogs suffering from common illnesses, injuries, or life-threatening conditions..SPORT SAFETY
Course content includes adult CPR, first aid care and sports related injury prevention. Adult CPR certificate valid for one year. Sport Safety Training certificate valid for three years.March 21 & 28 must attend both) 6:30 p.m. -10:30 p.m.
