The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Vice Chairman Patrick J. Cavanagh. County Commissioner Bill Young led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Cavanagh sends his best wishes to Denis Squire who is in the hospital fighting an infection.
Motion by Gene McCune seconded by Patrick J. Cavanagh to approve the minutes of the regular session of the Board of Trustees of February 14, 2005. VOTE: McCune, yes; Cavanagh, yes. The motion passed.
Mr. Cavanagh thanked Mr. Young for his attendance. Mr. Young gave a brief report about County business. The trustees and Mr. Young discussed the general welfare bill.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Jeff Pulsford commented on how Senate Bill 18 will remove general welfare from townships zoning and the restriction it puts on our zoning.
REPORTS:
Mr. Jeff Renner, President of the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department, presented a report of calls for January 2005 and a 2004 end of the year report. The total calls for 2004 were 499. There were 254 rescue related calls, 60 fire related calls, 81 misc. related calls and 104 mutual aid calls. 34.26% of the calls were covered by station staffing.
There will be a pancake breakfast on Sunday, February 27 and one on Sunday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
The AVFD will be selling raffle tickets to raise money to purchase a hood system and new stove for the station.
Eugene T. McCune, Jr. is maintaining contact with Dave Wilmot who is faxing over invoices and calling before working any overtime.
Patrick J. Cavanagh attended a Chagrin Valley Watershed Partners meeting and briefly reported on it. The dominant discussion there is stormwater management, erosion, and illicit discharge. Mr. Cavanagh discussed the Moreland Hills/Jaylin Investment appeal which will be heard in a State court.
Motion by Patrick Cavanagh to donate $250 to the Chagrin River Watershed Partners to help pay the legal costs of the Moreland Hills/Jaylin Investment court case. There was no second to the motion. The motion died.
The trustees reviewed two plat maps from the Zoning Commission. One is a preliminary plat for Fireside Estates subdivision which is situated in Auburn and in Bainbridge. Mr. McCune said it would not be approved by Auburn unless there is an outlet to the subdivision in Auburn.
The other plat is a sketch plan for 82 acres of property on the east side of Ravenna Road opposite Taylor May Road zoned residential 3-acres.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Mr. Young reported that the Commissioners received a letter of request to vacate an easement on a lot in Lorien Woods. The trustees were not familiar with the request. Mr. Young said he would send a copy of the letter to them.
A letter from the County Commissioners was received advising us to reduce by 33% the maximum load limit permitted on all county and township roads effective February 21, 2005. The information will be given to the road department.
