The meeting was called to order by Chairman John A. Eberly. Mr. Eugene T. McCune, Jr. led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Gene McCune seconded by Patrick Cavanagh to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of December 5, 2005 as presented. VOTE: McCune, yes; Cavanagh, yes; Eberly, yes. The motion passed.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Some time was spent remembering Mr. McCune’s early campaigning for his first term as trustee and how he will be missed.
Mr. John Reithoffer mentioned that Carl Schneider suggested that the trustees give Al Padegimas a picture or two showing Adam Hall then and now. The trustees said that was a good idea and we should do that.
REPORTS:
Gene McCune read aletter from Christopher Hitchcock, Treasurer of Geauga County, stating that $52,966.76 has been collected during the month of November in the Treasury for Auburn Township from the estates of Joan Korecky and Charles Shimko, Sr.
Motion by Gene McCune seconded by John A. Eberly to transfer the inheritance tax money from the estates of Joan Korecky and Charles Shimko when received from the General Fund to the Land Acquisition Fund. VOTE: McCune, yes; Cavanagh, yes; Eberly, yes. The motion passed.
Patrick J. Cavanagh reported that the report of the water at Adam Hall was received from Kinetico and shows hard water with a lot of iron in it. The trustees discussed the proposal prepared by Kinetico Quality Water Systems for a water softener, 13” x 54” twin tank system with brine drum; pre-filter, 4.5” x 20” with pressure gauges at a price of $2,600.00. The price includes installation, start up and 150# of salt.
Mr. Eberly said that Kinetico has done a good job for the township and they helped out and installed a good system at the fire department, a reverse osmosis system and donated all their labor.
Motion by Gene McCune seconded by Patrick Cavanagh to accept the proposal as presented from Kinetico to install a water system at Adam Hall. VOTE: McCune, yes; Cavanagh, yes; Eberly, yes. The motion passed.
Mr. McCune noted that there was a guest in the audience. Miss Sarah Rollins and her father, Bill, who live on Carriage Hill Drive, were present. Miss Rollins is a student at Notre Dame Cathedral Latin High School and attended the meeting as part of a high school class. Mr. McCune said he would quiz her at the end of the meeting.
John Eberly reported that there is an ice problem at Adam Hall and he called John G. Johnson Construction Company to look into the cause of the huge icicles hanging from the gutters on the new part of the building. They assured Mr. Eberly that they will find and fix the source of the heat loss.
Mia Moore of the Illuminating Company called to say she would like to attend a meeting in January or February to bring some good news to the township regarding our electric service.
Susan Plavcan, Fiscal Officer, presented warrants for signatures as well as a purchase order. She presented each trustee with a copy of the current financials.
Mrs. Plavcan announced that we have been funded $925 to implement a Christmas Tree Recycling Program from the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District. Residents may drop off Christmas Trees at the Township Road Department and we will have them chipped.
A proposed zoning amendment, known as ZC2005-03 Minimum Lot Width, was received from the Zoning Commission. The trustees discussed the amendment briefly and set a public hearing date of January 16, 2006 at 7:15 p.m.
OLD BUSINESS:
Mr. Eberly spoke to Joni Stusek at the Community and Economic Development office about the grant with Tenant Construction and their work at Adam Hall. She has sent the matter on to the Prosecutor’s office for their opinion.
Security at Adam Hall will be deferred to February and then we will invite Gillmore Security to a meeting.
The trustees discussed 2006 road projects and reviewed Dave Wilmot’s listing of what we should send to the Engineer’s office for quotes. They want to add White Oak Drive repairs to the list and then send it on to the county.
ODOT Road Certification was received and we now have officially 54.08 miles of road to maintain.
A contract received from Cebridge Connection for the township’s cable service will be reviewed and discussed at a future meeting.
