Demographics and History Chester Township's population was 11,049 with a total of 3,736 households according to a 1990 census report. Their median household income in 1989 was $48,026. The township, which was originally called Wooster, is 23.6 square miles in size.
The first log cabin was built in May of 1801 by Esquire Milner, Philo Milner, and H. Sheffield. The first post office was built at Chester Cross Roads in 1827 with Dr. William N. Hudson as postmaster.
