MINUTES

 

Bill Blue, chairperson, called the meeting to order.  Other members present:  Edna Davis, Joan Jemison.  Others present: Chief Joe Stehlik, Lindsay Spidalieri, Dispatch Supervisor, Bethann Petronio, Admin. Assist.

AGENDA:  None

 

MINUTES OF JANUARY 4, 2007:  There were no corrections to the minutes.  Davis made a motion to approve the minutes as written.  Jemison seconded.  ROLL CALL:  All Yeas.

 

PERSONNEL:

1.      Supervisor Spidalieri has been putting together a training manual for the dispatch center.

2.      Dispatcher Krista Zimperman resigned as of January 22, 2007.

3.      Still looking for part-time officers.  Definitely need more on staff.

 

EQUIPMENT:

1.      Looking to purchase a new cruiser.

2.      Purchase price would be $18,700 from Midway but with extras added it would be $19,800

3.      State bid price doesn’t always give all of the options that are needed for it being a police cruiser.

4.      Midway would take the old cruiser in trade for about $1800 or could put on an auction website.

5.      Will purchase the Chevy Impalas since their warranty is very good.

6.      CAD program will be purchased for departments who want it using 911 monies.

7.      Laser shot program has been purchased and will be set up for Council to view after the meeting.

8.      Burger is working on removing all alarm systems from the dispatch center.  Will give him till April so that everyone still has alarm coverage.

9.      Burger has paid his bill to date.

 

 

VALLEY ENFORCEMENT GROUP:

1.      Will give a report on this next month.

2.      There may be another group such as this through the sheriff’s department.

 

WRITING CLASS:

1.       Will be conducting a grammar/writing class for officers.

2.       A tutor will come in here at the station for a cost of $40 per hour to instruct officers in how to write.

3.       Will be a five week course starting in May.

Davis made a motion to require all officers to take this writing class.  Blue seconded.  ROLL CALL:  All Yeas.

 

Bill Reed stated that the disaster plan looks to be outdated.  Dan will look into this.  He thinks that the plan has been updated since 1989.

 

There being no further business before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
