JANUARY 18, 2007
Brad Wallace called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The following members were present: Scott Klein, Bill Poole. Others present: Missy Hatch, Rec. Director, Dan Weir, Administrator, Bethann Petronio, Administrative Assistant, Lilly Ammons.
AGENDA: None
MINUTES FOR DECEMBER 7, 2006: Minutes were approved as written since this is a new committee.
OLD BUSINESS:
EAGLE PARK IMPROVEMENTS: Would like to split up the contract through different parts of the park. Will have the restrooms and underground utilities out for bids. Could possibly use pre-fab unit for the restroom. Need to do this phase of the project first. Still need to choose a fountain for the entrance to the park.
RECREATION EQUIPMENT STORAGE: This storage building will be 24’ x 24’ and attached to the existing building behind the municipal center. Quote from Mullet Company for this project was $39,000. That is a little higher than expected. The building needs to be heated in order to keep equipment in the building. Dan will check out some other possible options. Maybe a pre-fab type of building. Will have more information at the next meeting.
SPORTS COMPLEX USE: This is the property located on Almeda Drive by the Service garage. Have now changed the plans to only one ballfield. Can put soccer fields anywhere on the property. There is a wetlands issue on a portion of the property. Need to grade the ballfield area and install drainage. Consider putting in permanent restroom facilities. Will bid out the excavating portion.
NEW BUSINESS
CHURCH PROPERTY: The Wesleyan Methodist Church in town is selling their building. Consider looking at this property for recreation classes or storage. Asking price is $259,000. The church is coming to the P & Z meeting to discuss changing the zoning on this property from residential to commercial. Committee may take a field trip to look at this property.
There being no further business, Klein made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m., seconded by Wallace. All in favor.
