OLD BUSINESS:
EAGLE PARK IMPROVEMENTS: Signed contracts for the park construction have been completed. Will send out commencement to start notice to the contractor. Bids are out for the pavilion, wet park and dry park. There will be a bid opening on Friday, March 23 for these portions of the park. Have been in contact with the Illuminating Company to move the pole line from the previous park. Additional parking may be needed for the park. Will discuss purchasing a small piece of property from BAK for this additional parking.
RECREATION EQUIPMENT STORAGE: Will be meeting with another contractor regarding the construction of a storage unit to the existing storage facility behind the municipal center. Will sign agreement with Fire Department regarding lease of the new facility. Estimated cost of the storage unit could be $18,489.08 and $800 for plans.
SPORTS COMPLEX USE: Discussion was held about a grass infield for the baseball field. A grass infield would not be that much more expensive. Proposal is for one larger field. Need to make sure that there are enough smaller fields. Consider installing a restroom and a faucet for watering of the grass infield if one is installed. Will be acquiring the right of way of Almeda Drive for purposes of making parking off of the street for the ball fields. Might want to consider putting a sidewalk along the parking area for pedestrian traffic. Will make the end of the road by the middle school a 45 degree angle when the road is being reconstructed. It is a very dangerous curve and narrow for cars and buses to pass at the same time.
GEORGE KNOX PARK: Not much has been done to this park due to inclement weather.
NEW BUSINESS
BASEBALL FIELD MTCE. – INFIELD MIX: The infield mix is a special blend that has really improved the baseball fields in the Village. The recreation committee agrees to continue with this type of mix. Due to the absence of the recreation director at the meeting, the committee is not sure if there was another issue with the infield mix. Will discuss at the next meeting.
There being no further business, Wallace made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:15 p.m., seconded by Klein. All in favor.
