| The purpose of this organization is to match a child, aged 6-15, from a one-parent family, with a mature adult of the same sex to provide direction, companionship, and understanding; one who is available for and willing to share confidences and help the child become a responsible productive person. |
Volunteers NeededAdult volunteers age 19 or older are needed to become mentors to the children in Geauga on waiting lists. Volunteers must be willing to make a one-year commitment, spend a few hours each week with the child, and be willing to participate in an extensive screening process.
There are currently at least 80 children on the waiting list. Children need help developing social skills, career interests, raising self-confidence, and being an adult friend and positive influence.
Couples Match ProgramCouples married at least a year can participate in this program. It is designed to provide children with two role models as well as the model of a successful marriage.
Vehicles NeededCars for Kids' Sake Program is an easy way to donate unwanted cars and receive a possible tax deduction. A representative will arrange to pickup your vehicle. Cars, trucks, boats, and motorcycles qualify as charitable gifts and may be deducted.
Donate a vehicle - make a contribution to the youth of the community and enable Big Brothers Big Sisters to continue functioning.
All proceeds go directly to the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters agency. Dial 1 (800) 710-9145 to arrange for vehicle pickup, or contact Jeanette Knorr at 951-7258 or 1 (800) 222-2440 for more information.
