Venturing Crew #420

Venturing Crew #420 provides outdoor activities for young men and women in Geauga County from age 14 to 20. Activities include camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, caving, snow skiing and more. This Crew is a long time supporter of the Geauga County Park District and enjoys the use of its facilities. The Venturing Crew is part of the Boy Scouts of America.

Crew #420 has backpacked in the Blueridge Mountains of Virginia and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico, canoed in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, skied the mountains of New York and West Virginia, and hiked the hills of southern Ohio and Pennsylvania. These are just some of the activities that we have fun with.

Venturing Crew members learn outdoor skills and about the equipment used. Crew members learn and practice leadership skills, determining what they want to do and work with the other crew members to make it happen. Adults serve in the role of advisors.

Crew #420 is "Where The Eagles Roost" as we have many members and alumni who have earned the Eagle Scout Award. We will work with any boy that wishes to continue Boy Scout rank advancement beyond First Class. Dual membership with Boy Scout Troops is encouraged.

Venturing Crew #420 is co-ed as we believe that high adventure opportunities are for girls and boys alike. Several awards can be earned by both boys and girls such as the Venturing Bronze Award, the Gold Award, the Silver Award, and the Ranger Award.

Meetings are held the first and third Thursdays (September thru May) in Chardon. Meetings start at 7 p.m.

If you are a High School student looking for outdoor high adventure and want to learn more about this Venturing Crew, contact the Scout Office at 800-234-7268 or hikemeister@juno.com for information.

Girl Scouts

The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and My country.
To help people at all times, And to live by
The Girl Scout Law

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best:
to be honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Girl Scouting

Girl Scouting is committed to helping all girls from every background to develop the confidence, determination and skills needed to thrive in today's world. There is one Girl Scout program that is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law. It is adapted to meet the developmental, educational, emotional and social needs and interests of girls at five levels: 5-17 or from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

The Girl Scouts are seeking a very low or rent-free facility in eastern Geauga County. The fact that there are no offices in Geauga makes it very difficult for volunteers. If you can help, contact Linda Smith, or Jenny at 481-1313 or 1 (800) 362-0215.
